deadly fight 12 confirmed to be in development and due for release in 2023 after announcing…in an investor call.
Few things are as exciting as the fierce and bloody combat to the death that has been the series’ strongest point for over 30 years. However, the message seems to have been lost on the publishers. deadly fight 12The unveiling comes without a trailer and complete radio silence from the brand’s various social media accounts. Despite the lack of an announcement, it will certainly be one of the bigger ones upcoming games in the genre we’ve been waiting for.
Four years after the premiere of the previous part of the series, deadly fight 12 was officially announced in Warner Bros. Discovery Q4 2022 Earnings Talk on Twitter (opens in a new tab). It’s not the flawless win I expected, especially considering how other franchises in the fighting game community have made character reveals, stages, and gameplay mechanics a big part of the thrill.
The reveal comes at an extraordinary time in Mortal Kombat history. It wasn’t until late October that the summer 30th anniversary of the series was announced, along with trailers and artwork for the occasion. You’d think this would be the perfect time to give fans a taste of what’s to come, especially if the 2023 release date is being honoured, but that wasn’t the case.
While Mortal Kombat games are usually released in late April, this is unlikely to happen deadly fight 12 because of the sudden and disappointing way it was announced. Expecting the game closer to the end of the year makes a lot more sense, with a potential full reveal at E3 2023.
This year promises to be really full of fights. That’s because we get it too street fighter 6 AND Tekken 8 in the coming months. Now, Mortal Kombat is finally back in the games after a live-action movie and three well-received animated films focusing on the iconic characters Scorpion, Liu Kang and Kenshi, respectively.
Mortal Kombat Legacy
I’ve spent my whole life playing Mortal Kombat. Some of my earliest gaming memories involve countless rounds Mortal Kombat trilogy AND Deadly Fight 4 on PS1 before I went all-in in the series with the switch to 3D z Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance AND Mortal Kombat: Deception in the early 2000s. Fast forward to Mortal Kombat (2011), and my love for the series was rediscovered. This is the only time I downloaded the demo and did everything in my power with my little brother to fight for a triumphant return to classic 2D roots.
This tradition continued for both Mortal Kombat X in 2015 and Deadly Battle 11 in 2019, being blown away by the stories and new characters that will come after the first release. To say that over the last 20 years I have devoted a significant part of my free time to this series would be a huge understatement.
I hope that deadly fight 12 returns to the more dynamic and aggressive style of play he created Mortal Kombat X so loved by the casual and competitive scenes. Significantly speeding up the game and working on smoother animations would ensure that the next title on the lineup will play continuously and energetically like its competition.
Deadly Battle 11 had an official release on PS5 and Xbox Series X, which benefited from 4K resolution and much better textures than the previous generation. Hard to believe, but this 2019 game ran on a heavily modded version of Unreal Engine 3. Considering how great the game’s lighting and particle effects are, this remains a truly impressive feat.
It would make logical sense deadly fight 12 run on Unreal Engine 5 to really push what current-gen consoles are capable of. Tekken 8 confirmed to use this game engine and looks really spectacular compared to its 2017 predecessor. This game is a current-gen exclusive, which means it’s not coming Xbox One Or PS4 platforms. I hope the next Mortal Kombat game follows suit, especially as cross-gen gaming is holding current-gen consoles back.
